Small Wool Rug in Pericón Flower Gradient

This small rug was handwoven on a footloom in Momostenango with natural local wool. The warp is cotton, the weft is hand-processed and hand-spun wool. The rug was made with the best white wool available, and has been dyed in a natural cochineal vat at Lake Atitlán to achieve the subtle gradient effect.

We love the bright colors from cochineal, and we hope this item helps to brighten up your home and spirit. It works great in small areas like in bathrooms, in front of doors, or wherever you'd like to add some warmth both aesthetically and physically for your feet.

Thanks to the Guatemalan curfew put in place, Mari had plenty of time to clean the wool rugs of any plant fibers stuck to the wool. This is part of the handmade process - sometimes there are grass and thistle pieces stuck to the fibers. It's all part of the fun.
