Cobán

These gentle cotton blouses are backstrap-dwoven by a cooperative in San Juan Chamelco, right outside of Cobán. The most exquisite of all weaves the group produces is the regional gauze-like picbil (also spelled "pikbil").

It has been a pleasure to work with this remote but talented group of weavers. They produce traditional designs on their own, and we collaborate with the same weavers for custom production for Kakaw. We love incorporating naturally-dyed cotton into our designs.
