This one-of-a-kind blouse is bacsktrap-woven by master weavers in Cobán with the delicate picbil (also spelled "pikbil") technique using handspun local cotton yarns from our friend and master spinner Doña Marta at Lake Atitlán. The base of the textile (both warp and weft) are naturally-dyed commercial cotton.

Featuring a two-panel design, the blouse has an appealing V-neck created from joining of the two panels, which is also done by hand. The lightweight, gauze-like fabric gives it an airy feel, perfect for dressing up or down.

Each blouse takes 4-6 weeks to complete on a backstrap loom, with all edges finished as clean selvedges—a laborious process mastered by only the most skilled weavers. This was the first time for the weavers to work with handspun cotton, which tends to be more fragile and soft. The fiber can be a challenge to work with, but they did such a fantastic job with this challenge.

We think this blouse fits like a US sizes M/L and is made entirely of naturally-dyed cotton prepared by our partners at Lake Atitlán. Sizing can vary for each piece due to the handmade processes. This piece is just a couple of inches shorter and narrower than other L sizes.
