//A new addition to our one-of-a-kind collection. Note that this piece features the acclaimed four-selvage weave!//

Introducing a unique scarf born from a collaboration between two distinct Guatemalan highland communities: one Tz'utujil and one Qʼeqchiʼ, separated by about 155 miles of mountainous roads (250 km). This project brings together the traditional ikat and natural dye practices from our partners at Lake Atitlán with the delicate open weave on a backstrap loom from our partners near Cobán.

Fascinated by the regional differences and craftsmanship of each Maya community, we sought to connect these traditions to create something truly special. We began by sketching various warp ikat patterns, which were then dyed by our partners at Lake Atitlán using single yarns—a departure from their usual double yarn technique for warp. The dyed warp was sent to our weavers near Cobán, who selected and created their own combinations after some guidance. Some panels were woven with four selvages, and others with fringes, to the weavers' choosing.

Each scarf is a unique work of art, reflecting the beautiful and diverse traditions of these two highland communities. We are honored to bring this new creation to life.
