The Lake Top with Barrilete 13 (L)
$115.00
//This is a one-of-a-kind hand-embroidered versios of our favorite cozy top!//
Handwoven with organically-grown cotton handspun with a drop spindle and then naturally-dyed, these Lake Tops represent tradition, soft comfort, and environmental practices. The neckline is hand-embroidered with heirloom brown "ixcaco" cotton.
Truly slowmade from start to finish, this unique version features hand-embroidered "Barriletes" or giant kites, traditionally flown for All Saints' Day festivities in Sumpango, Guatemala. When we asked Claribel, our embroidery master from Sumpango, what she would like to embroider on these blouses, she jumped on the idea of the traditional kites. In her town, they are just getting ready for the festivities that will take place November 1st. See what Kelly wrote about last year's celebrations here.
The weave is a crossed-over calado (see close-up image).
Because the top is made with one backstrap-woven panel, this width is the widest possible.
