Vintage 3: Huipil Nahualá

A beautiful vintage huipil from Nahualá featuring traditional brocade handwoven on a backstrap loom. The material used is cotton for both warp and weft. Can you tell what the figures are? We call those large birds "chompipe" in Guatemala ;)

All four selvages are meticulously finished on the loom, showing excellent mastery by the weaver. Each of the two panels has been woven on a backstrap loom and then joined with hand stitching together. And this piece is extra special and practical!  There is an opening left for breastfeeding.

This piece is wearable, meaning that the neck opening is large enough for the huipil to be worn. We think it is beautiful to wear combined with jeans.

Measurements:

Width: 33 inches

Length: 25 inches

Material: Cotton & Cotton blend

Care: Hand wash separately and line dry inside out. Colors should not bleed, but best to be gentle to preserve the brocade stitches.
