//A new Artisan Direct listing from our partners in Tactic!//
This is a pre-loved traditional huipil made specifically for a young girl in the neighboring town Tamahú style, and it is being sold by the weaver herself. The three-panel style each handwoven with four selvages is typical of the region. All four selvages are meticulously finished on the loom, showing excellent mastery by the weaver. Please note that this piece is showing slight discoloration from use.
Traditionally, huipiles of this style from Alta Verapaz are worn with high-waisted gathered corte, but we think these blouses are great to combine also with jeans and shorts. The loose fit is great for the active girl.
We think this blouse would generally fit girls 4-6 years old well.
Brocaded figures include dog paws and seeds. Handwoven and being sold by Yesica.
Please note that modeled images were taken with a different smaller huipil, and she is 3 years old.
Material: Cotton
Care: Hand wash separately and line dry or lay flat to dry inside out. Colors should not bleed, but best to be careful not to damage handwovens.
Measurements:
Width: 26.5 inches
Length: 12 inches
