Intermediate Brocade Weave with Doña Lidia / TBD

//NEW! We are excited to announce that after months of hard work, we added three professional videos that show step-by-step details of the three brocade figures in high def! These are now included in the PDF guide of this class.//

This is a one-hour small-group class dedicated to three single-sided brocade designs traditional to San Antonio Aguas Calientes. We will start with simple "mosquitos" (fruit flies), then the repeating pepenado lines and "semillas" or seeds, with the use of multiple supplementary weft threads per row. This class will be recorded, so you can go back to the details and see the demonstration again later when you'd like.

Doña Lidia has been teaching backstrap weaving nationally and internationally for several decades. She is a wealth of knowledge and a patient teacher with experience teaching in English.

This class will be held via Zoom from Doña Lidia's home on Saturday, October 16th, from 10-11am Guatemala time. Please check the time difference for where you are.

For this class, we recommend watching the demonstration first and then attempting later on your loom with the recording of the class, since some parts are quite detailed. Need a loom? No problem, we have practice brocade looms available, prepared by Doña Lidia and her sister.

We will be sending out an email with the Zoom invite and class PDF during the week leading up to the class.

Great Class and Teacher!

This was a great class to take after for a bit more of a challenge. Doña Lidia is very patient and clearly explains the demonstration. I enjoyed taking all her classes. I’ve learned so much.

Fun and informative!

This is a nice follow-up once one is confident with plain weave. Doña Lidia explains and demonstrates how to make the 3 brocade designs, and answers questions as they arise. I now feel confident that I have the techniques to practice these brocade designs!
