The Aiko Coat: Indigo
$270.00
//Our classic jacket silhouette in a longer "coat" version!//
This ready-to-ship Aiko Jacket is crafted from a handwoven textile created with indigo-dyed cotton yarns. The fabric was prepared by our partner weavers at Lake Atitlán.
Our jackets are named after Mari's mother, Aiko, who kindly helped us develop the Japanese-inspired base pattern. This version features a cozy, medium-weight cotton jacket that’s perfect for layering, with generous pockets for added convenience.
For every jacket sold, we donate $10 to Friendship Bridge, an organization chosen by Aiko that works to create opportunities for rural Indigenous women in Guatemala through education and microloans.
The jacket’s relaxed fit, with no defined shoulder lines, makes it suitable for a range of body shapes from small to large. Wear it open for a haori-like style or pin it closed for a more structured look.
Each jacket includes a mending kit, in keeping with the jacket's Japanese spirit. The kit features naturally-dyed threads and textile squares, including the same fabric as the jacket, encouraging thoughtful repair. We believe that mending garments with care adds to their beauty over time.
