Creative and homey

I stayed at Kakaw during my week long intensive weaving course and absolutely loved it. Cotton bolls grow at the window, the view overlooks the garden and neighboring nature, and the space was curated thoughtfully. I visited during the rainy season, and the extra wool blankets came in handy on chillier nights. A private bathroom and access to a shared kitchen and washing machine made my stay feel more like home. It's in a great location, and easy walking access to the plaza, museums, and markets. I'd love to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a homier option than a hotel or hostel.

Creative nest in central Antigua

If you want to be surrounded by textiles and creative lovely people, you have found the right place to stay. My one-week stay in the studio was wonderful. Full disclosure, I used to live in this house and I’ve always had a good feeling in it. I loved the room, which has locally-crafted blankets and decoration. While this room might not be for everyone—you get to (or have to) exist right in the midst of Kakaw work activity—I can highly recommend it as a unique and charming experience. Kakaw staff are lovely and respectful and coming home to weavers in the garden… it’s just all so charming! And you cannot beat the location. As you’re smack in the middle of Antigua restaurants and bars, there is music at night—something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper. That said, I fully recommend a stay here—it will make your Antigua visit that much richer.
