The Pompom Kit

//NEW: add our PDF guide to making pompoms. This guide is included in our Zoom classes, but in case we don't have a class scheduled soon, you can add just the guide. It comes with a video recorded on a phone that shows the process from start to finish.//

Everything you need (except sharp scissors) to make your own Chajul-style pompoms at home! This bundle includes 6 naturally-dyed cotton skeins, each about an ounce, as well as two sample pompoms made by our friend and master maker Chato.

Arrange the colors to your liking to make your own unique pompoms. You can make different sizes of poms, too - from small to large, it just depends on how much thread you use for each.

This style of pompoms is traditionally attached to the ends of hair ribbons in the highland town of Chajul in the Ixil region. They adorn the wearer beautifully. We invite you to create your own uses for these chunky and curious pompoms.

Please note that the naturally-dyed tones may vary a bit, but we will always group the colors into Warm and Cool colors.

To learn from Chato, check our Experiences section for a live class via Zoom. Or better yet, why not join us in Guatemala? See our upcoming Textile Travels.
