Intermediate Brocade Weave with Doña Lidia / Sat Oct 16th 10-11am Guatemala time (2021)
//NEW! We are excited to announce that after months of hard work, we added three professional videos that show step-by-step details of the three brocade figures in high def! These are now included in the PDF guide of this class.//
This is a one-hour small-group class dedicated to three single-sided brocade designs traditional to San Antonio Aguas Calientes. We will start with simple "mosquitos" (fruit flies), then the repeating pepenado lines and "semillas" or seeds, with the use of multiple supplementary weft threads per row. This class will be recorded, so you can go back to the details and see the demonstration again later when you'd like.
Doña Lidia has been teaching backstrap weaving nationally and internationally for several decades. She is a wealth of knowledge and a patient teacher with experience teaching in English.
This class will be held via Zoom from Doña Lidia's home on Saturday, October 16th, from 10-11am Guatemala time. Please check the time difference for where you are.For this class, we recommend watching the demonstration first and then attempting later on your loom with the recording of the class, since some parts are quite detailed. Need a loom? No problem, we have practice brocade looms available, prepared by Doña Lidia and her sister.
We will be sending out an email with the Zoom invite and class PDF during the week leading up to the class.
