This beauty was sourced by Mari from our partners in Momostenango. What a treasure to wrap yourself up in this warm blanket! It is heavier-weight than most of the contemporary wool blankets made, with both warp and weft in local sheep wool, felted together by washing. The older-style striped pattern results from the use of darker brown/black wool in both the warp and weft. is not so regularly seen these days, and Mari was delighted to find this gem.
Wool products represent a significant source of income for Momostenango. From caring for the sheep, shearing, cleaning, spinning... all the way to weaving and then felting and teasing... it is all hard work, and a tradition that we hope will continue in the town.
This size is ample for a single bed, and is also suitable for a double bed with limited draping. It also makes a wonderful throw on the sofa or for outdoor use on chilly days. Imagine stargazing being wrapped up in the warmth of Momos wool.
