Private Class: Weave your own "pulsera" bracelet
$50.00
//This is a private outdoor "pulsera" weaving class held at our studio garden in central Antigua. It is a great option for children, taught with a ratio of one teacher per 1-2 students. Depending on the teacher, Spanish, English, and Kaqchikel instruction are possible. Please first send us a message via WhatsApp at +502 5191 1991 or email us at hello@kakawdesigns.com to coordinate the date and time. We typically prefer 9:30am-11:30am for best weather. We are located at 1a Avenida Sur #4B in Antigua Guatemala.//
We created this offering specifically with children in mind, but this bracelet-making class is perfect for anyone wanting an introduction to backstrap weaving with the ability to take home a small finished product -- your own handwoven bracelet! Enjoy a calm morning at our lush studio garden in central Antigua, explore a simplified version of traditional backstrap weaving, and craft a beautiful memento to take with you!
This two-hour class includes:
- Personalized instruction by a master Kaqchikel backstrap weaver, starting from warping all the way to braiding the ends of the bracelet
- All naturally-dyed cotton threads (prepared by our partners at Lake Atitlán) to make your own bracelet to take home. Participants can choose their colors for both warp and weft, get creative!
- A small snack and drink
The instructors are able to teach up to two students at a time.
We recommend morning instruction (9:30-11:30am) to avoid harsh sun and rain.

The women that work at Kakaw designs are beyond friendly, genuine, and accommodating to specific situations. The space and the people are incredibly welcoming and I would have loved to be able to take additional classes there. They were skilled at what they do and in teaching others how to do it.
We took a private class where my kids wove bracelets and us adults learned traditional backstrap weaving and it was perfect. My kids are 6 and 9 and the bracelet weaving kept them engaged and learning the entire time. They had a fun souvenir at the end of the class and left with a desire to keep creating. I would recommend a combined private class for any family traveling to Guatemala with kids!
