The Aiko Jacket: Indigo Dreams
$275.00
//Our classic jacket silhouette in a new textile!//
This ready-to-ship Aiko Jacket is crafted from naturally-dyed, handwoven textiles by our partner weavers at Lake Atitlán. Named after Mari's mother, Aiko, who kindly helped us develop the Japanese-inspired base pattern, this piece features an asymmetrical ikat fabric originally designed by Sedona Rigsby in a new color version. So many talented hands went to work to make this garment possible, from design to dyeing to weaving to sewing. The result is a cozy, medium-weight cotton jacket that’s perfect for layering, with generous pockets for added convenience.
For every jacket sold, we donate $10 to Friendship Bridge, an organization chosen by Aiko that works to create opportunities for rural Indigenous women in Guatemala through education and microloans.
The jacket’s relaxed fit, with no defined shoulder lines, makes it suitable for a range of body shapes from small to large. Wear it open for a haori-like style or pin it closed for a more structured look.
Each jacket includes a mending kit, in keeping with the jacket's Japanese spirit. The kit features naturally-dyed threads and textile squares, including the same fabric as the jacket, encouraging thoughtful repair. We believe that mending garments with care adds to their beauty over time.
