What a fun class with the kind and friendly people of Kakaw. We learned all the basics, including some background stories on the patterns and design of the embroidery. I can honestly say that it got me addicted to embroidery and will for sure finish my bag. With hopefully many more projects to come. The two hours were simply not enough, I wish I could have stayed all day doing my embroidery with the other friendly participants. Thanks for the fun morning! Also loved the write up of the class with videos on the stitches, very helpful! Keep doing what you do, at your beautiful Antigua destination :)
I thoroughly enjoyed our morning with Claribel, Mari and Evelyn (along with the other lovely participants!) The instruction was easy to follow and understand and Claribel is a wonderful and encouraging teacher. I really appreciated that the design was already stenciled onto the bag so that we could get started stitching right away! I look forward to finishing my project. Thanks so much to Kakaw Designs for facilitating the connection to this amazing art form and for the peek into how local artisans make their wonderful work! I definitely plan to attend again soon!
The embroidery class with Claribel was wonderful- everything I hoped for and more. I have some experience with embroidery and really appreciated her description of how the huipiles are worn. Clari was so patient showing and explaining the stitches. Now II have a beautiful tote to remember Guatemala by.
Mari and Evelyn were great hosts and the garden setting was conducive to chatting, learning and creating art
