The Aiko Coat: Confetti Ikat
$330.00
//Now in a longer version for our taller friends and those who just feel cozier with added length. This is a ready-to-ship jacket made with a naturally-dyed and handwoven textiles. //
Named after Mari's mom, Aiko, who helped us with the base pattern for this Japanese-inspired jacket. We've added our touch using naturally-dyed and footloom-woven textile prepared for us by our partner weavers at Lake Atitlán. The result is a cozy medium heavy-weight cotton jacket that is great on its own and layered. Possibly the best part - generous pockets!
$10 donated per jacket sale to Friendship Bridge, chosen by Aiko, since she was so kind to share this pattern with us. The organization works to create opportunities for rural indigenous women in Guatemala through microlending.
The jacket’s relaxed fit, with no defined shoulder lines, makes it suitable for a range of body shapes from small to large. Wear it open for a haori-like style or pin it closed for a more structured look. Two generous outer pockets and a smaller inner pocket keep your valuables within easy reach.
Including a mending kit with each jacket, in-line with this piece's Japanese influence! With a few different textile squares (including the same textile as the jacket) and naturally-dyed cotton threads, we hope for these jackets to be loved and used for years to come, as well as mended if needed in the future. When done with care and love, we believe that mending makes garments increasingly beautiful.
