Our classic indigo ikat-filled "Stars in the Sky" textile in a lighter-weight weave. The texture is great for this Smock Top, and it will get softer and softer with use and wash, the way our favorite indigo-dyed cottons do. Two pleats in the back make this blouse versatile in sizing and wear.
Dyed by hand using dye-resist knots in a technique called "ikat" or "jaspe" here in Guatemala. Warp yarns were tied, then dyed in natural indigo sourced from our neighbors in El Salvador, and then woven on a large wooden pedal loom to create the fabric for this top. Garment design and quality control performed in-house at the Kakaw studio, with construction by the talented Betty at her home workshop in San Antonio Aguas Calientes.
We think this top makes a great a year-round addition to any wardrobe.

Material: 100% naturally-dyed cotton, handwoven on footloom.
Care: Wash separately in gentle cycle with cold water and gentle detergent with a mesh bag. Hang or lay flat to dry in the shade, inside-out. Natural dyes tend to fade with continued sun exposure - we recommend storing naturally-dyed garments away from direct sunlight.
