Medium-length Summer Cardigan: Indigo + Chilca
$300.00
//This one-of-a-kind Summer Cardigan in a medium long version//
We challenged our partner weavers to this new version of an open cardigan. We are above the moon pleased with the results, made by combining four backstrap-woven panels together with hand-stitching. Each panel has been woven with four clean selvages -- note that there are no fringes, a technically impressive feat that shows the weaver's mastery of this delicate weave.
This is a one-of-a-kind variety of our handwoven breezy picbil cardigan in a lightweight weave with cotton thread. The colors of this piece come from indigo and a local plant called "chilca," dyed by our partner artisans at Lake Atitlán. This might just be the most luxurious and cozy addition to your wardrobe! Made with fine traditional picbil designs by weavers around Cobán, Guatemala.
There are only four women who have mastered this delicate design, making the Cardigan extra special. It takes each weaver 6-8 weeks to complete a single cardigan from start to finish.
Wear it layered over a simple tank top in the summer or a long-sleeve blouse in the winter. It flows beautifully when worn open. Also beautiful with an accent belt.
