Blusa 96

//A new Artisan Direct listing from our partners in Cobán!//

A stunning blouse made with three panels of pure picbil joined at the middle with gentle hand-stitching called "duck's feet." The piece is full of deer pattens.

The white threads interact beautifully and play with natural light in such a flattering manner. Picbil is a regional weave only found around Cobán, and only the most skilled backstrap weavers are able to perform this delicate weave. All four selvages are finished on the loom, showing masterful weaving.

This type of huipil (traditional blouse) is regionally worn with a gathered flowy corte (wrap skirt), and the combination is really beautiful. But feel free to combine with other kinds of skirts or jeans.

Please note that the modeled images are of a different blouse with similar measurements (the picbil figures are different).

We think this blouse fits approximately like US size S/M and is made of all cotton threads.

This beauty was handwoven by Juana.
