Small Wool Rug in Natural White
This small rug was handwoven on a footloom in Momostenango with natural local white wool. The warp is cotton, the weft is hand-processed and hand-spun wool. The natural white is beautiful, showing some variation in the colors found in the local sheep. Natural and un-dyed.
Thanks to the Guatemalan curfew put in place, Mari had plenty of time to clean the wool rugs of any plant fibers stuck to the wool. This is part of the handmade process - sometimes there are grass and thistle pieces stuck to the fibers. It's all part of the fun.
