We created a limited mini collection of 5 totes with unique hand-stitching on handwoven indigo textile inspired by Japanese sashiko-style stitching. We are so pleased with the results. The natural dyeing and weaving was done by our partner artisans at Lake Atitlán, the embroidery by our artisan friends in Sumpango, and the leatherwork in the Antigua area. We love combining the specialized skills found in Guatemala and creating something new.
This versatile bag comes with a leather inner pocket with a zipper for securing valuables along with two cloth pocket compartments, and a handmade tassel ornament with a hand-painted ceramic bead that features a traditional brocade design of a star (sorry, not included in the photograph....You can find images of the tassel under Quetzal Tote).
