Pepián Cooking Class with Doña Lidia / TBD

This is a cooking class organized by request! Doña Lidia is a master weaver from San Antonio Aguas Calientes, and a great cook, too. In this session, we will learn how to make the famous dish pepián, which is especially wonderfully-prepared in San Antonio.

Pepián is a delicious stew made with many roasted ingredients including seeds and peppers. It is traditionally prepared with chicken and vegetables, and accompanied by rice and tortillas.

We will be sending out an ingredient list two weeks before the class. We are putting aside an hour and a half for this session to have sufficient time. It is possible that you might need a little extra time for your pepián to fully cook, but in this time we hope to show all of the steps involved.

After the class, we will be sharing some handwoven Tapacanastos being sold by Doña Lidia. These are beautifully-decorated textile pieces used traditionally to cover tortillas in order to keep them clean and hot.

Join in as a household! We plan to record this session in case participants would like to come back to it for details.

Maximum number of participants: 12
