Online Advanced Panel Finishing Class with Doña Lidia / December 5, 1pm-2pm (2020)

A special one-hour advanced class by request! Join us to learn the details of how to finish a textile panel on a backstrap loom, with special details on the laborious four-selvedge technique. Once the weaver progresses toward the end of the panel, the sticks that make the loom such as the string heddle and shed rod must be removed, and the panel carefully finished by hand. This class will show step-by-step how this process is done in English, taught by master weaver Doña Lidia from her home in San Antonio Aguas Calientes

To put your learnings from class into action, take a look at our Make Your Own Loom Kit and Brocade Backstrap Loom Kit, prepped by Doña Lidia and her sister.

Doña Lidia has been teaching backstrap weaving nationally and internationally for many years. She is a wealth of knowledge and a patient teacher with experience teaching in English.

This class will be held via Zoom on Saturday, December 5, 1pm-2pm Guatemala time. Please check the time difference. This is a special topic session suitable for weavers interested in the details of backstrap weaving.

An email with more details will be sent a few days before the class, including the Zoom meeting invitation. The class will be recorded and shared privately, so participants will be able to go back and review the material at their leisure.
