Huipil 53: Tactic

//A new Artisan Direct listing from our partners in Tactic!//

This is a pre-loved traditional huipil being sold by the weaver herself in the light "calado" weave which is great for layering over a camisole. The three-panel style each handwoven with four selvages is typical of Tactic, Alta Verapaz, and makes for easy and beautiful wearing paired with high-waisted bottoms.

This type of huipil (traditional blouse) is regionally worn with gathered flowy corte (wrap skirt), and the combination is really beautiful. But feel free to combine with other kinds of skirts or jeans.

Brocaded figures include cotton flowers and dogs. Handwoven and being sold by Irma.

The neck opening is large enough for comfortable wearing. We think this piece fits like size S/M.

Material: Cotton blend, a bit of rayon

Care: Hand wash separately and line dry. Colors should not bleed, but the rougher weave is better to wash by hand so it doesn't get caught in the wash.

Width:  37 inches

Length: 20.5  inches
