We took a vintage medium heavy-weight traditional cotton corte with beautiful hand-stitched randa embroidery, and converted it into one large piece of a versatile textile. We think this makes a beautiful bedspread, picnic blanket, couch cover, camping blanket... and oh, so much more.
Our embroidery partners in Sumpango took the corte (traditional wrap skirt) and hand-stitched it further to suit full and queen size beds. We paid close attention to the randa placement, and we're very pleased with the results.
The new hand-embroidery is a blanket stitch all along the edges, and a simple randa-style union all with plant-dyed cotton thread. We're sure that you will love feeling cozy on this piece as much as we do.
Please note that this version has one small area that is patched up with sashiko-style stitching in the same contrasting naturally-dyed cotton thread. Giving the used textile another loved life.
