A beautiful new handwoven cotton blouse made with two panels, woven on a backstrap loom by our partner weavers up in Cobán. The cheerful hot pink is combined beautifully with neckline and sleeve floral embroidery with rayon floss. This blouse has a slim fit as it is made with only two panels.
This type of huipil (traditional blouse) is regionally worn with gathered flowy corte (wrap skirt), and the combination is really beautiful. But feel free to combine with other kinds of skirts or jeans. The rough weave called "calado" can be see-through, so this blouse is good to combine with a camisole.
Note that both handwoven panels have four clean selvedge ends, a technically challenging feat that is laborious. The end results in structurally strong textiles that reduces waste as all panels are used to their fullest.
