Traditional Cortes <cor-tays> (wrap skirts) with ikat designs are transformed into super cozy and light wraps. The entire outer edge of the textile is hand-embroidered by a group of women embroiderers in Sumpango, using naturally-dyed cotton thread from our partner cooperative of weavers at Lake Atitlán. We love linking the two groups of women together to make these gorgeous scarves.
We added a vibrant and cheerful rainbow randa to this design. The hand-stitching is all with naturally-dyed cotton.
