Sold Out $180.00
This is a curious huipil featuring traditional brocade patterns from San Juan Cotzal. Unlike the usual traditional tops from this town, this piece features a lighter weave in appealing pastel hues as well as fringes at the bottom. This may be a result of personal preferences of the weaver or some sort of blend of traditions from different towns, which is not rare to see in Guatemalan textiles. This beauty is being sold by Fernando. Material used is cotton for both warp and weft.
Fernando and his family have a small textile treasure stores in their home town in Chichicastenango, a place filled with the most beautiful items imaginable. Currently, because of travel restrictions due to COVID-19 both nationally and internationally, they have not had many local sales. Thus, the listing of some of the treasures on our site here on our Artisan Direct page.
Material used is cotton. The piece is in good condition, ready to be worn. Please note, however, that the piece has been worn, meaning that there are some spots showing discoloration from use. The neck opening is generous and the piece fits like US small.

Width: 31 inches
