Small group Indigo-dyeing workshop with Abigail / Wednesday, June 12th, from 10:00am - 12:00noon

//This is an in-person outdoor natural indigo dye workshop held at our studio garden in central Antigua. Instruction is primarily in English but can be switched to Spanish upon request. The exact address will be shared upon registering.//

We're excited to offer this very special hands-on experience with Abigail from Mysa! The 2-hour workshop includes: 

• Introductory lesson on indigo from plant to dye, including different vat types and the chemical reactions involved
• A small item for you to dye (and take home) in one of Abigail's indigo vats (for example: a canvas tote or a handwoven napkin depending on availability)
• An apron and a pair of gloves
  
• Yarn and rubber bands for tying designs, beginner shibori-style (resist-dye technique)
• A small snack
• A PDF guide to introduce you to the world of indigo, prepared by Abigail
• Optional add-on: white handwoven pikbil garments at a special 30% off workshop price. These cotton huipiles and cardigans take in the natural dye so beautifully!

The class will be held on Wednesday, June 12th, from 10:00am - 12:00noon Guatemala time with Abigail as the instructor and Kakaw staff assisting.

Note: Would you like to bring a personal belonging to the class to dye? Please let us know ahead of time to prepare the vat, and note that additional charges may apply to account for the use of the vat.

Nos da mucho gusto ofrecer esta experiencia con Abigail de Mysa! Este taller de 2 horas incluye:

• Lección introductoria sobre añil desde la planta al tinte, incluso los diferentes tipos de tinas y las reacciones químicas involucradas.
• Una pequeña prenda para teñir en una de las tinas de Abigail (por ejemplo: una bolsita de lona reciclada, o una servilleta tejida a mano, dependiendo en disponibilidad)
• Un delantal y guantes
• Hilos y elásticos para amarrar diseños, tipo shibori principiante (una técnica de teñido por resistencia)
• Una refacción liviana
• Guía PDF para prepararte al mundo de este tinte mágico, el añil. Preparada por Abigail.
• Opcional para agregar: prendas tejidas a mano en técnica pikbil a 30% de descuento solo para el taller. Estos huipiles y chalecos de algodón absorben el tinte de forma especialmente hermosa.
