Embroidered Bag: Barriletes

A work of art hand-stitched by our partner embroideresses in Sumpango in preparation for the town's famous Giant Kites Festival -- el Festival de lo sBarriletes.
The stitches used are the same as those that adorn the neckline of a hand-embroidered huipil from the same town.
This bag represents a collaboration among the artisan groups we love to work with: in addition to the embroideresses in Sumpango, the cotton threads were dyed by our partners at Lake Atitlán, and the canvas tote by Creamos in Guatemala City.
